About

PharmRepClinic.com was created by Jane Chin, Ph.D.

“When I was a sales representative, I made many ghastly mistakes that reps make when interacting with physicians,” said Chin, who often cites her lessons-learned in her clinical selling columns for Pharmaceutical Representative magazine. “I got over my embarrassment and want to steer reps away from the faux-pas I made.”

Chin was a researcher in the analytical research and development department of a global pharmaceutical company and entered pharmaceutical sales as she was completing her doctorate in biochemistry. Chin continued her industry career in medical affairs. She was Founder of Medical Science Liaison Quarterly newsletter and Founder/former President of Medical Science Liaison Institute (2004-2011).

Outside Chin’s work with pharmaceutical companies, she engaged in scientific outreach and community efforts. Chin’s articles for cancer patients have been published in Coping with Cancer magazine and wrote the popular “Clinical Side” columns for Pharmaceutical Representative magazine from 2004-2007, the content upon which this website was based.

Chin is author of Practical Leadership for Biopharmaceutical Executives (Biohealthcare Publishing Oxford Ltd, 2011) and PhD [alternative] Career Clinic (9Pillars, 2011). She is not writing a confessional book about pharmaceutical sales.
